Fish Passage and Screening
Client / Agency
Mohawk Watershed Partnership and the McKenzie Watershed Council
2008 to 2010
River Design Group was retained by the Mohawk Watershed Partnership to provide a fish passage design for Wolf Creek, east of Marcola, Oregon. The Mohawk River Basin supports a strong spawning population of fluvial cutthroat trout and the barrier on Wolf Creek prevents access to high-quality spawning gravels. River Design Group provided a site survey, geomorphic assessment, and fish passage design to replace the county road culvert. Project alternatives were developed for stakeholder review by a committee including representatives of the BLM, Lane County, and watershed stakeholders. A 21’ x 6’-11” open-bottom pipe arch culvert with simulated streambed was developed into design drawings for use in bidding, permitting, and construction. A design report was developed to accompany the drawings and for use in corresponding with regulatory agencies.
